Pasco Candidate Dr. Linda Jack First to Qualify for 2018 Election Through Petitions
New Port Richey, FL – Democratic candidate for Florida House District 36 Linda Jack has officially
qualified for the 2018 election through the collection of more than 1,050 candidate petitions.
The Pasco County Supervisor of Elections has officially verified that Linda and her team collected
1,056 petitions from HD36. A total of 82 volunteers knocked on more than 3,200 doors to collect the
petitions, and Dr. Jack is the first candidate in Pasco county to qualify by petition to be on the ballot
this November. District 36 covers the western part of Pasco county between Pinellas and
Hernando counties and includes businesses and neighborhoods along U.S. 19.
In addition to qualifying, Linda has been honored by Moms Demand Action and has raked in
endorsements from several individuals and organizations including New Port Richey Mayor Rob
Marlowe, former Representative Amanda Murphy, current Representative and candidate for
Attorney General Sean Shaw, the Florida National Organization for Women, the League of Humane
Voters, and 314 Action, a science-based organization supporting STEM candidates.
“I’m proud to make my home and my living here in Pasco County,” said Linda. “It’s humbling to see
the hard work all these volunteers have put in since last summer, through hot sunny days and the
pouring rain, attending dozens of events and knocking on thousands of doors. This motivated team
is going to make a positive impact on Pasco today, tomorrow, and in the future – and it starts now
with these signatures.”
The deadline to qualify for the 2018 election is in June 2018. Candidates can qualify either by
gathering petitions from voters or by paying a qualifying fee. “Qualification by petition is proof of
solid grassroots community support,” said former HD36 Representative Amanda Murphy. “Linda
qualified by petition and she qualified early. At this point she is clearly viable and she’s building
strong momentum as she moves toward November.”
